This year’s Anime Expo was straight-up fire, and if you miss it, then FOMO is guaranteed.
Introduction – Anime Expo 2025 literally broke the internet!
To tell you the truth, I have been counting down for Anime Expo 2025 since January. Every year Anime Expo brings hype, but this time the energy, announcements, and unexpected surprises changed the whole scene. Whether you are a seasoned otaku or a casual viewer, Anime Expo 2025 definitely left some or other blasts for every kind of anime fan.
The Los Angeles Convention Center was once again full with cosplay, creators, screenings, and fan energy that was literally shaking the walls. But if you couldn’t go (or couldn’t see it all), don’t stress, because I’m here with a full breakdown of the Top 5 announcements from Anime Expo 2025 that you absolutely cannot ignore.
Let’s dive in because this recap is going to be totally senpai-level.
1. Black Clover Season 2 Officially Announced – Asta is Back!
The first banger news came from the Crunchyroll Industry Panel – Black Clover Season 2 is happening! Studio Pierrot is coming back and the teaser trailer literally gave you goosebumps.
What’s New:
• Asta’s new design looks more mature and battle-hardened
• Visuals are darker and grittier
• Plot tease hints at Spade Kingdom aftermath and Magic Knights’ internal conflicts
This is a revival moment for Black Clover fans, especially those who were a little saddened by the anime adaptation’s abrupt ending. When Asta summoned his sword in the teaser… the crowd literally screamed.

2. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 – Yes, It’s Real!
Yes bhai, you heard it right – Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 is finally confirmed. Studio Trigger is back, and this time the story will revolve around a new character who will explore V and Lucy’s legacy.
Why this matters:
• Netflix and CD Projekt Red collab is still strong
• Story will pick up from the original but in a more expanded Night City
• Teaser had a high-speed chase that reminded fans of classic Akira vibes
I got genuinely emotional when I heard that Lucy’s memories were preserved in an AI chip, and the new lead was going to unlock that chip. Edgerunners had already won the trust of fans, and confirming this at Anime Expo 2025 was their power move.
3. MAPPA’s Original Project: “Ashen Pulse” – A Post-Apocalyptic Heartbreaker
If you thought MAPPA was just busy with Jujutsu Kaisen and Attack on Titan, Anime Expo 2025 would have opened your eyes. MAPPA revealed its brand-new original anime “Ashen Pulse” – a post-apocalyptic survival tale where the moral boundaries between humans and AI have become blurred.
What we know so far:
• Lead voiced by Mamoru Miyano (yep, the GOAT himself)
• Music by Hiroyuki Sawano (expect insane soundtracks)
• Visual style = mix of “Blame!” and “Chainsaw Man”
This was an announcement that no one expected. In the Q&A session after the panel, the creators of MAPPA explained that this is their most personal project. “It’s not just about survival, it’s about grief,” he said. I love you so much, seriously
4. Studio Ghibli x Disney+ Collab – “Whispers of the Forest” Coming 2026
Now this announcement shocked everyone. On the final day of Anime Expo 2025, Disney+ revealed that they’re collaborating with Studio Ghibli on an exclusive fantasy anime mini-series titled “Whispers of the Forest.”
Details that made jaws drop:
• Directed by Goro Miyazaki
• English dub confirmed with Florence Pugh, Dev Patel, and Ken Watanabe
• Based on ancient Japanese folk tales
Imagine Ghibli’s aesthetic but made for streaming with global accessibility. This project aims to target both kids and adults – My Neighbor Totoro meets Avatar: The Last Airbender vibes. Fans’ reaction? One word – MAGICAL.
This moment clearly makes the most wholesome announcement of the Anime Expo 2025.

5. Chainsaw Man Movie Confirmed – “Reze Arc” Gets a Theatrical Treatment
And finally, the news everyone was waiting for – Chainsaw Man Movie: Reze Arc is officially in production! Studio MAPPA confirmed that this story arc will come in the format of a full-blown cinematic release.
Why fans are hyped:
• Reze is one of the most beloved characters from the manga
• Movie promises an R rating – expect emotional depth + graphic madness
• Animation quality teased = next-level sakuga
Reze’s arc is emotional, romantic, and tragic – and manga readers know that this part breaks everyone’s heart. To imagine it with MAPPA’s movie-level animation? That’s something we all needed.
Honorable Mentions from Anime Expo 2025:
• Spy x Family Season 3 teaser dropped – new villain + more doggo scenes
• Jujutsu Kaisen Stage Play USA tour announced
• My Hero Academia Final Arc will be split into two anime films (confirmed)
Conclusion – This Expo really won everyone’s hearts.
Anime Expo 2025 made one thing clear – anime is not just entertainment anymore, it’s a full-blown cultural movement. Every announcement, every panel, every teaser gave one message: fans matter. And if you still think of anime as “just cartoons”, then bhai, you are literally roaming around in 2025 with the same 2005 mindset.
I have already started budgeting for 2026 tickets.
